Unit 29 Music Video Production
The first specialist unit is very challenging and unlike anything undertaken at GCSE level. Students develop ideas through mood boards, storyboarding and meetings before exploring post production techniques that may be used to inform the production process. Once filming commences its all systems go as students work to complete the production phase before the deadline: this production phase will also involve casting, location scouting and prop design.
In addition to filming, lessons in 3d animation and music video analysis help shape students understanding of the varied contexts and styles of music videos. We watch and analyse a wide range of styles, from Nikki Minaj and Coldplay, to Kanye West, Pro Green and the Beastie Boys: this diverse mix enables students to form relationships between musical styles and their respective filming conventions.
